Before high school, Alex Ridge pitts of the Munford FFA Chapter in Tennessee never considered himself an “agricultural” person and he hadn’t even heard of FFA. But once he found the organization and enrolled in an agriscience class, he was hooked. After three years of showing livestock, he began working with his chapter to host summer camps where he mentors new showmen on how to walk, shear, and groom lambs and goats. Pitts has also developed teaching and training aids for the Tennessee Association of Agriculture Educators. He is supported by his parents Tommy Pitts and Cindy Greer and his FFA advisors, Ann Johnson, Bill Newsom, LeAnne McRae, Glenn Goulder, and Ashley Bringle.
