With always wanting to work in agriculture, Riley Berger’s life transformed when he met and was offered a job from the owners of ASB Farms Alan and Susan Brinker. Now, he rose to the top as a Star in Agricultural Placement Finalist coming from the Ridgewood FFA chapter in West Lafayette, Ohio.
Berger says he started working odd jobs as a farmhand due to a lack of knowledge and experience, but he has taken on significantly more responsibilities over time working with livestock of all sizes. Since being employed, he says the experience has helped Berger grow as both a farmer and a person.
The American Star Awards are presented to FFA members who demonstrate outstanding agriculture skills and competencies through completion of a supervised agricultural experience (SAE) among many other qualifications.
Hear how he embraced his agriculture experiences not initially growing up in the community in an interview with Broadcast Desk Intern Michelle Stangler.
