J.D. Cant of Oregon Named the NAAE Region I Outstanding Agriculture Teacher

J.D. Cant is the agriculture teacher at Imbler High School in Imbler, Oregon.

J.D provides hands-on instruction with a rigorous curriculum focusing on the science of agriculture. The Imbler agricultural education program upholds the three-circle model. J.D. also embraces technology as a tool for better collaboration and learning, using resources like Google Classroom to update and share class materials.

The Imbler FFA Chapter has grown steadily since J.D. became the advisor, and currently includes 83 percent of the student body. The chapter participates in a wide variety of activities, many of which are focused on providing for the community.

He also supervises an impressive variety of independent student projects. Through these projects, students learn time and money management, professional communication techniques, and skills for future careers.

To help fund class and chapter activities, J.D. often applies for grants. Last school year alone, he helped write and received over $50,000 in grants through eleven programs.

Congratulations to J.D. Cant for being selected as the NAAE Region I Outstanding Agriculture Teacher.
