Ryan Smith wins Equine Science Proficiency

Ryan Smith of the Era FFA Chapter in Texas had the goal of raising a foal and training it for calf roping which is what he does.  His SAE is breeding, raising, training and showing registered American Quarter Horses in tie-down calf roping.  Smith’s grandfather gave him a foal that he bred himself and he has worked with it since.  He is supported by his parents Kevin and Beverly and his FFA advisor, his dad. This award is sponsored by Keyston Steel & Wire Company – Red Brand and Land O’Lakes Purina Mills.
